1. Use locally sourced, seasonal food, along with reusable dishes, utensils, and napkins. If paper products are the only option, be sure to purchase ones that are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) certified, or choose ones that contain at least 50% recycled content.

2. Provide a water cooler rather than individual bottles of water, and avoid other individually packaged items

3. Find previously used décor to incorporate into your event or donate or reuse your décor afterward.

4. Skip the paper by sending online invitations through websites like Evite, Paperless Post, and Punchbowl. Also, reduce the amount of printed materials by going digital and sharing documents through email or through other online applications, including Google Docs and Dropbox.

The Green Wedding Alliance: Your Choice for Sustainable Events

Posted on: April 1st, 2016 by Showroom on Hubbard No Comments

Welcome to The Showroom on Hubbard blog! Here we’ll be sharing stories about events we host, the incredible partners with whom we work, and tips and tricks for your next event. Plus, we’ll even touch on how to incorporate the beauty of sustainability into your celebration.

To launch our blog, we would like to pay homage to a devoted group of eco-conscious event vendors, The Green Wedding Alliance (GWA). The GWA is a member-run organization of over 50 vendors who are committed to sustainably responsible business practices. They were founded in 2011, and we’re proud to have joined the group this year. Within the GWA you’ll find event planners, venue spaces, caterers, photographers, DJs, florists, and more. All vendors are accepted into the group based on a rigorous application and site visit, so you can be assured that these top vendors take being green very seriously.
