Fig Catering Dessert Tour

Posted on: April 17th, 2017 by Showroom on Hubbard No Comments

If you stopped by last Wednesday you were sure in for a treat. The Showroom on Hubbard partnered with Fig Catering to bring to life a Dessert Tour full of nostalgia. Tables were adorned with playful takes on classic treats like rice crispy treats, faux oreos, and a full selecting of pies and tarts. What a better way to kick off the Spring then bringing back some childhood pleasures?

Stopping by the rustic wood tables there was a beautiful assortment of tarts and pies. Among them was a creative take on rhubarb pie inside small mason jars, petite apple and lemon meringue pies, and a beautiful blueberry almond tart.

A favorite of the evening was the game board table. A playful take on checkers is highlighted, along with scrabble to spell out what treats were in store. Overall it was a great evening savoring over delicious treats.

Incorporate brightly colored flowers with natural elements thrown in, like this wooden flower box. It’s the perfect way to celebrate Earth’s reawakening and bring the outside in, especially when the weather isn’t quite cooperating yet.

In lieu of flowers, use colorful candle holders for centerpieces. Those with varying heights add variety and interest to the design.

Serve up a delicious spring cocktail, like this one for sangria from Minimalist Baker.

Nothing says spring as much as an airy, delicate cake stocked with fruit, like this chiffon cake with strawberries and cream from Martha Stewart.

Keep the decor colorful, especially when it comes to pastel tones. Whether you incorporate color with paper lanterns, balloons, or even lemons in your water carafe, it will add some instant spring cheer to your event.

A DIY paper flower backdrop is another great way to infuse spring into you celebration. Get the tutorial here.

A couple of flowers make a great party favor, especially when they’re in a cute vase personalized with a chalk-written note.

Local Chicago Art Shines at The Showroom

Posted on: December 12th, 2016 by Showroom on Hubbard No Comments

The Showroom on Hubbard is proud to support Chicago’s thriving arts community by initiating The Local Artists Program! Through The Local Artists Program, we feature two Chicago-area artists, allowing them to take over our walls and transform them with their beautiful pieces. The best part is that their work is all available for sale directly through them!

For the inaugural run of the program, which will swap out art every six months, we feel very fortunate to feature Mike Anderson’s stunning photography printed on wood and Tracee Badway’s gorgeous paintings. Please scroll down to learn more about each of the artists and to see some of their featured pieces. Plus, stay tuned because we plan on hosting our first Gallery Night in March and would love to see you there! We’re thrilled to pay homage to Chicago’s talented artists and hope you’ll stop by to take a look at their work.

Mike Anderson

Mike Anderson, aka, “Ando” is a born and raised, pizza-consuming Chicago-an. He is a world traveler, couch surfer and will go to extremes to achieve the perfect shot. Last year, with a one-way ticket to Ireland and camera in hand, he headed out on his biggest adventure yet.

Mike returned to sweet home Chicago this summer and found himself being pulled in several unexpected directions. Weddings, engagements and family photos were soon added to his portfolio in just a few short months.

Subject matter aside, one thing is for sure – photography is Ando’s passion.

Learn more on his website, here.

Tracee Badway

unnamed

As a small business owner and freelance visual artist, Tracee Badway is swiftly taking over Chicago’s art scene. Though she specializes in oil paintings, her yearning to create has her dabbling in all mediums of fine art. Her work has dazzled the walls of hotels, restaurants, and businesses all over the Chicagoland area. Tracee’s current artistic endeavor, beyond her commission-based business, is her Toilet Selfie Series. Each acrylic piece, towering at six-feet tall, is rendered from real selfie-photos she receives from friends and fans via social media. Tracee Badway’s art studio is aptly located in the Fine Arts Building, a Chicago Historical Landmark, on Michigan Avenue.

One Delicious Open House With One Off Hospitality

Posted on: November 14th, 2016 by Showroom on Hubbard No Comments

A couple of weeks ago, we hosted an open house with some of our incredible catering partners, One Off Hospitality’s Big Star, Nico Osteria, and The Publican. Although the night coincided with not only a big rainstorm, but also the final game of the World Series (Cubs playing for World Series Champions in the most nail-biting scenario possible was not on the docket when we picked the date!), we had a nice turnout of new faces and old friends.

The night was especially successful thanks to One Off Hospitality’s delicious bites. Big Star served savory tacos de papas (spicy potato tacos) and fresh corn chips with salsa verde and chipotle salsa. Nico Osteria offered hamachi crudo with a pomegranate salsa verde and watermelon radish. They also brought their spicy mixed nuts, which we couldn’t stop snacking on. For dessert, The Publican provided matcha rice krispie treats, nutter buddies, and a variety of other delectable creations.

Feel free to take a look at some photos of the event below. If you were unable to make it, we’d love to schedule an appointment for you to see our space in person. Please contact us here! Also, please take a moment to visit each of the three caterers’ websites, linked above, to learn more about what they have to offer.

Double Birthday Bash

Posted on: August 8th, 2016 by Showroom on Hubbard No Comments

The Showroom on Hubbard was recently transformed into the ideal space for Sam and Lori’s double birthday party! We arranged the space so there would be plenty of room for guests to dance to what was deemed a very special playlist. Sam and Lori also greatly enjoyed decorating the space to make it their own and even created a photo booth station! The guests’ joy and laughter filled the space all night and made for quite a memorable evening. Please enjoy some of their celebratory photos below. Happy birthday to these two lovely women!

Stress Less: 5 Tips For Your Corporate Event

Posted on: May 31st, 2016 by Showroom on Hubbard No Comments

With so many factors to consider when planning a corporate event, the process can become quite stressful. Here are five tips to consider in order to alleviate the stress and help your event run smoothly!

1. Know Your Goal

This should be the first step when planning a corporate event. Whether you’re looking to launch a product, educate those in your field, or thank your employees, once you know your event’s objective, all of the other details can fall into place.

2. Market Your Event

Send an email blast, create buzz on social media, put up flyers, alert the media, use word of mouth, shout it from the rooftops! No matter how you go about it, make sure your target audience knows your event is coming up. Also, if you’ve sent an email invitation, a good rule of thumb is to send a second email about the event to all invitees who haven’t responded approximately two weeks before. Then send another email to the registered attendees the week of. These emails act as gentle reminders without being overbearing.

3. Delegate Responsibilities

Whether you need employees to volunteer to check in guests, help with food service, or take photos, make sure you have all your bases covered.

4. Schedule Breaks

Give attendees the time to relax between speakers or group sessions. Whether it’s to have time to interact with other participants or just a short breather, your guests will appreciate some time to decompress before moving on to the next activity.

5. Follow Up

Remember to reach out to your guests after the event to thank them for attending. Also, feel free to share any slides or other information presented, to ask for feedback, or to offer an exclusive promotion.
